EasySharp Screenshots

EasySharp features a simple interface, shown in the screenshot below.

A preview of the sharpening effect can be viewed at various zoom levels, and a navigation window assists in examining various parts of the image. Four sliders control the filter's operation:

  • The Select Edges slider controls the selection of edges within the image. As the slider is moved from less to more, progressively weaker edges in the image are included for sharpening.
  • The Radius and Amount sliders mirror the parameters available in Photoshop's unsharp mask. They control the width and strength of the sharpening applied.
  • The Lightness slider biases the sharpening effect between the light and darks sides of the edges being sharpened.

An Edges check-box toggles between the standard preview and a display of the edges being selected for sharpening. In the latter mode, the image is displayed in monochrome, with a red mark indicating where the sharpening is being applied. When adjusting the Select Edges slider, this preview mode shows the effect of the changes and allows the required strength of edges to be easily set. The preview mode is shown below.

Finally, a popup menu allows the edge selection method to be chosen. While the manual mode is the usual choice, three auto modes are also available. These modes allow the Select Edges slider to be set automatically, and attempt to choose the same degree of edges irrespective of image content. The auto modes allow the plug-in to be used to for batch processing of images, producing consistent results without intervention.
