PhotoLift

PhotoLift

PhotoLift is a Photoshop filter plug-in for adjusting detail and contrast levels in digital photographs.

How it Works

Unlike other contrast tools available in Photoshop (e.g. Levels, Curves, rightness/Contrast), PhotoLift allows local and global contrast levels to be independently adjusted. Local contrast levels correspond to the appearance of texture and detail in an image; increasing local contrast imbues and image with “depth” without changing its overall balance of light and dark.

Using traditional tools, manipulation of local contrast is possible only to a limited degree and unnatural artifacts (especially “halo” effects) are easily produced. PhotoLift uses non-linear filtering to allow aggressive local contrast adjustments while respecting the image’s overall structure and tonality, resulting in a more natural-looking image.

Application

In practice, PhotoLift has many applications. It is particularly well-suited to fine art, landscape and architectural photography. PhotoLift enhances detail and texture, bringing dull and lifeless images to life. PhotoLift can be used aggressively to highly stylised renditions, or more subtly to add noticeable “punch” to an image while maintaining realism.check out PotoLift sample images at http://www.pixelvistas.com/photolift-sample-images/

System Requirements

PhotoLift is available for both PCs and Macs. For PCs, the plug-in works with Windows XP and Photoshop CS, CS2 or CS3, as well as recent versions of Photoshop Elements. The Mac version requires an Intel Mac running Photoshop CS3. A fast CPU and a large amount of memory will be beneficial when processing high-resolution images. (We recommend a minimum of 1Gb of RAM.) A screen resolution of at least 1024 x 768 is required.

PhotoLift is available for download here. If you like the filter and would like to use it on a permanent basis, a registration key can be purchased from Web Design Galway.
